I had the pleasure of meeting Henry from CASTING VA when he casted me for a movie entitled “Good Old Fashioned Orgy.” This is a Comedy featuring William Forte from Saturday Night Live. Henry was always very professional and willing to participate. The most recent project Henry casted me on was a music video shoot in Richmond, VA. Henry was always on set with a positive attitude. Henry Jaderlund is an awesome casting director with tons of charisma and charm. Since I have known him, he has turned me on to various acting gigs and has been ecstatic as I am for getting the role. I first met him at an actor’s forum at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia where I graduated from. He was very friendly and willing to answer any questions or concerns that I had. I went to his website Casting VA and from there on I have been getting calls from him for different acting opportunities. It has opened up a whole new world for me and many others who know him. I can call him anytime even though he is always busy, he still answers.

When Henry is on set, people are drawn to his people-person attitude. He is always looking out for the best interests on the set. When I was in Richmond for a music video, he made sure that everyone put on sunscreen so they did not burn up in the bitter heat and had cold bottles of water so that no one became dehydrated. Since I have known Henry, my life has been headed in a more positive direction thanks to him. He has introduced me to various influential people in the film industry and there is not one person I know that can say a bad word about him. I know I can’t! Henry has made me one step closer to my dream and I want to thank him for that.

I have been doing extra roles on several motion pictures, documentaries,music videos and commercials for about two years. I came to know Henry during the casting and on the set of "The Box" that was being filmed at "NASA" Langley in Hampton Va. I answered an add in the local newspaper for "The Box" but since meeting Henry all my extra and dayplayer work has come through him. Overall Henry is highly intelligent , very dependable and has great communication skills. He has great knowledge in the movie industry. He has always kept me in mind for extra roles and I also auditioned for a speaking roll thanks to Henry. I have had the distinct privilege of working with Henry Jaderlund in his capacities as a Casting Director, as an Assistant in the Casting Department, and Actor. I have found him to be extremely professional, punctual, courteous, helpful, and friendly to his fellow actors.

In his roll as casting director with Virginia Casting, Henry has set up CastingVA.com. This sites allow actors to set up profiles, similar to myspace.com but the focus is to have all of the actors information, resume and head-shots readily available. All casting calls are then posted to the sites and the actors, just send a message indicating their interest in working on a project. This cuts down on the time that the Casting Company has to spend at open casting calls by reducing the number of people standing in the lines and obviously save time for the actors that use the websites. I find this to be a remarkable achievement that is now being copied by other casting companies.

In open casting calls, auditions, and on a movie set, Henry and his team are very good at processing the large volume of people while making each person feel like an important part of the project. The Casting VA team is very organized, things are set up for the event and at the appointed time, they begin processing the group of people like a well oiled machine. During the time at the head of the line the actors are treated professionally and are given clear instructions for the next part of the process.

Henry served as a judge for the Film event at the Tidewater Regional Technology Student Association Competition. He took part in this in order to promote the film industry in Virginia. He even called, a couple of months later, to see how the winning student team from the regional level did at the State level competition. He also gave advice to improve the competition the following year.

Henry Jaderlund has earned my respect not only by his accomplishments as an actor and Casting Director, but also by his professionalism and concern for the film industry in Virginia. He shows great respect for his fellow actors and is very helpful in finding parts for them. He also has taken a very innovative approach to streamlining the casting process.
